THAIS FERNANDES (1984) has a degree in journalism. Focused on documentary narratives, since 2007 works as editor, writer and director of audiovisual projects for television and cinema. In the theater acts as writer, director and video designer in projects that investigate multimedia interaction. Also works as an educator, teaching documentary and film introduction in free courses for children and adults.
From 2007 to 2009 was Finishing Coordinator in the Special Programs Department at RBSTV (Globo Affiliated channel). In 2009 was assistant editor at Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre. Still in 2009 was curator and producer of the film exhibition "Santiago Álvarez – The Eye of the Revolution", that brought to Porto Alegre the work from the Cuban filmmaker. In 2011 won one of 4 scholarships awarded by IBERMEDIA to participate at the IV Diplomado en Documental de Creación in Cali, Colombia.
In 2013 released “PASSPORT TO EXILE”, a transmedia performance that engaged the public in live and online presentations. Still in 2013 was selected to the 8º Talent Campus Buenos Aires, and in 2014 selected to Berlinale Talents, both events focused on young filmmakers designed by BERLINALE. Still in 2014 debut “WHAT’S IN YOUR MIND?”, a theater play that mixes video and actors live interactions awarded with the Brazilian fund Funarte Myriam Muniz 2013, and released “THE INVENTED VILLAGE”, a webdocumentary directed by Liliana Sulzbach in which she signs General Coordination, research and video editing. The project is part of the awarded movie “The Village”, directed by Liliana Sulzbach. In 2016, her first interactive documentary as a director - A FEMALE BODY - was selected for the ID W / INTERACTIVE DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP - Visions Du Réel 2016, and in 2018 the short originated from the project participated in several festivals winning numerous awards. In 2015 Her first television series as creator/director – AFTER ALL, WHO IS GOD? – has been selected at PRODAV/12, a Brazilian federal fund for public televisions, and in 2019 debuted on TV CULTURA. In 2020 releases PORTUÑOL, her first feature.
